Living Word Community Church Membership- Welcome Meals

So why become a member of the Church?
Being a committed member of a local Church community is God’s idea and in addition to you partnering with God and His people in the building of God’s kingdom, there are significant mutual benefits.
We can become part of a bigger loving family
We can become part of local and wider activities that build kingdom
We can see our gifts and abilities recognised and used within the Church and more widely
We can share our joys and our problems and receive prayer and wise counsel from others

How do I become a member of the Church?
Through a three-week series we would love to get to know you better and give you the chance to get to know us, the Church and what we believe Church should look like. At the end of this three weeks both you and the Church might feel it is right for you to join the Church This ‘membership’ is  entirely optional as all are welcome to attend our Sunday worship and home groups.
This is an informal process and will take place at a time that suits you  but will include sitting down  over a meal with the Elders of the Church, to help us get to know each other better. To help us along we will make sure we cover the following topics whilst also getting to know each other personally

Welcome meal 1
Our Statement of faith (we’ll be using the Evangelical alliance definition)
“I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.” 2 Tim 1:12
Believers Baptism and Baptism in the Holy Spirit“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Rom 6:3-4
For John baptised with water, but in a few days you will be baptised with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1:5Welcome meal 2
The Headship of Christ“And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”Eph 1:22-23
Delegated Authority (Church Leadership)“Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.” Hebrews 13:17
Living Word Community Church history, its ministry partnerships and connections
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Acts 2:42Welcome meal 3
The Church (local and universal)“A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” Jn 13:34-35

Fellowship“
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another —and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:23-25

Financial Responsibility“
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Discipleship and Hospitality
“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” John 13:13-15
